Margaret Jean Przekurat

November 12, 1928 ~ August 5, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

COLONIE – Margaret Jean “Peggy” Przekurat, 88, of Crosby Street, died Saturday at her
daughter’s home in Princetown after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Born November 12th, 1928 in Albany, Peggy was the daughter of the late James L Feeney and
Margaret Munro, and a graduate of Berne-Knox High School.
She worked as a telephone operator for the New York Telephone and later retired from AT&T
where she proudly served as a CWA union representative. She finally retired for the last time
from Target in Colonie at almost 80 years old. Peggy was always proud that her first job was as
a civilian airplane spotter during WWII in East Berne, New York.
Peggy’s real joy was her family. She hosted many family gatherings for Thanksgiving and
Christmas, and pool parties for all of the summer holidays. Full course turkey dinners were
always prepared for birthdays and other special events. Christmas was especially special for
Peggy and her home always had some reminder of Christmas on display. Peggy could not
imagine a child not having a present to open on Christmas. She lived the spirit of Christmas year
round.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Gentile/Dan of Princetown; three sons, George
Bartels/Lily of Guilderland, Michael Przekurat/Dawn of Glenmont, and James Przekurat/Lisa of
Colonie; a brother, James Feeney/Rita of Coxsackie; grandchildren; Travis and Jennifer Bartels,
Noelle Gentile/Nathan Bogardus, Amanda Gentile/Jason Litwak, Morgan and Nicholas
Przekurat, Patrick Lee, and Jared Przekurat, and four great-grandchildren; Maddie, Kennedy,
Isla, and Lucia; and nephew, James Feeney/Jenny Strom and family; she is also survived by a
niece Mary, nephews and many cousins.
Special thanks to Jill Gradner MD and Stephanie O’Leary PA for many years of devoted care for
our mother. Thanks to Sue Stewart our mother’s Hospice nurse for all of her compassionate care.
A memorial celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, August 13th, at Settles Hill
Tree Farm 721 Old Settles Hill Road, Altamont 12009.
Memorial contributions may be made to Toys for Tots.org or Boston Children’s Hospita
