Angelo Hilton Obituary

On April 25, 2023, Angelo Hilton, 70 peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family and lifelong friends. Angelo had battled lung cancer since October 2022.

He was the son of the late Mattie Hilton Dorsey and the late Ralph (Dutch) Dorsey. He was born in Petersburgh, Virginia on August 6, 1952. During his childhood he was a resident of North Charleston, SC and Albany, NY. Angelo graduated in 1970 from Philip Schuyler high school in Albany and worked many years as a Longshoremen Crane Operator for the Port of Albany and was a member of the ILA Union. 

 Angelo enjoyed playing pool at The Golden Cue and participated in many pool tournaments. He volunteered many years of his life supporting Father Peter G. Young’s programs serving some of the most forgotten and vilified members of society – people struggling with addiction, poverty, and criminal background.  Father Young was a personal friend of the Hilton-Dorsey Family.  Angelo celebrated 23 years of recovery in May 2023; and fellowshipped with various NA groups throughout the United States.

 He leaves behind to mourn his wife Gladys Garrett. Four sisters; Lorraine Dorsey, Marion (Susie) Dorsey, Dolores Burton and Leah Redmon all of Albany, NY. Three brothers Ralph (Patricia) Dorsey, James Joseph (Zenna) Dorsey and Willard Dorsey of Albany, NY.  Gloria M. Seymour, Mother-In-Law. Godson Lucas Ortiz and a host of other nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.  Lifelong friends  Coleman (Rocky) Young, Willie Austin, Fred Daniels, Jorge Ortiz, Cedric Faulkner, Rockie Mann, Roxann Speight and Cousin Tony Dilella.
