Daryl Vaughn Francis

Niskayuna, NY – Daryl Vaughn Francis, 76, of Niskayuna passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday July 16, 2020 after a trying battle with pneumonia (non-covid related).

Daryl is survived by her children, Jodi and her husband David Rossman, Gregg and his wife Jocelyn Rockower, Amy and her husband Shawn Brownstein, David and his wife Leigh-Anne Rockower; her grandchildren, Hannah, Kelsey, Aaron, Ella, Grady, Garrett, and Elliana; and her furry best friend, Corky.  She is predeceased by her ex-husband Gerald Rockower and her parents.

Daryl was born on July 25, 1943 in Syracuse, NY to Avis and Robert Francis.  She graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a nursing diploma and Albany Business College with a degree in Business.   Daryl began her nursing career at Crouse Irving Hospital in Syracuse.  She continued her nursing path at Albany Medical Center and, later, Coxsackie Correctional Facility Regional Medical Unit until her retirement in 2010.  Daryl was a dedicated lifelong nurse and a sharp economist at heart.  She had a personal passion for modern décor and loved creating beautiful spaces in her home. She had many crafting projects that she enjoyed working on in her spare time and sharing these with her family.  Daryl also loved wildlife, plants, and enjoying natural scenery. 

A remembrance of Daryl’s life will be held on Sunday, July 19 from 1:00-5:00pm at her home in Niskayuna.  This will be held outdoors to allow for social distancing.  Please contact Jocelyn Rockower jeld857@gmail.com for more information.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a donation to the Animal Protective Foundation of Scotia, NY.
