Obituary

Guilderland- Leonard Friebel died on February 21, 2022.  Lenny was born in Schenectady on November 22, 1948, the son of the late Robert Friebel and Marjorie and “Bud” Geier.  He graduated from Guilderland High School, enlisted in the Navy, and after discharge worked at the Watervliet Arsenal.  Lenny was an active member of the Elks and supported all Veteran organizations.

 

He is survived by his children, Leonard II, Jessica Carlotti (Ryan), and Jeff DeCenzo, grandchildren Ariana, Ryan, Myla, Paige, and Cameron.  He is also survived by his siblings Sharon Hext (Jerry), Colleen Geier, David Friebel (Lynne), Bill Dumas, and sister-in-law  Darcijean Sprague, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother (and best friend) Robert Friebel.

 

A private interment will be held at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Salem, NY and a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. 

 

Leonard’s family wants to thank the staff at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy for the tender, loving care they provided for Lenny and his family, Community Hospice for their guidance and support, and Capital District Affordable Cremation for making this difficult time a little easier.
