Thomas “Tom” “Papa” Riston, passed away on November 6th, 2022 after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family.
Tom was born in Gloucester, MA on May 12th, 1947. He was the son of Thomas Riston Jr. and Pauline (Lockwood) Riston, both of whom predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his brother, Donald Riston.
On May 28th, 1971 Tom married his beloved, Judy. Tom and Judy created many memories while raising their children. Tom made birthday and holiday celebrations unique and special for all in his family. Tom enjoyed participating in Sand Lake Seniors and was a Life Member of the Wynantskill Fire Department.
Tom worked hard his entire life and instilled this value into his children. Tom worked for the railroad, Emma Willard School, owned and operated RTJ Replacement Windows. Most recently Tom worked at Partridge Dental Laboratory.
Left to be comforted by Tom’s memories are his wife Judy, his son Eric Riston of Mechanicville NY; daughter Heather (Adam) Berger of Troy as well as his grandchildren Pamela Berger, Willow Riston, Madelyn Berger and Lilly Elkins. He is also survived by his sister Pamela (Steven) Whitcomb of Cape Cod and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may join in a Celebration of Life on December 10th from 1-4p at Averill Park & Sand Lake Firehouse, 35 Eastern Union Turnpike, Averill Park NY 12018. Tom wished that the theme of this Celebration be the 60’s, feel free to join in celebrating Tom by wearing 60’s attire if you wish.
